In 1991, the death of 15-year-old Los Angeles homeowner LaTasha Harlins, by Korean shop staff member Quickly Ja Du, created an outcry. In LA, African-Americans lashed out over their inadequate treatment they obtained while buying from Korean-owned shops in prominently Black neighborhoods. Their rage and also views would be directed later on that year by rap artist Ice on his song "Black Korea," from his sophomore solo cd Death Certificate.
